Nuns of the Tundra began making their own spin on alternative rock in 2017. Since then, they have been played on BBC Radio 1 & Radio 6, championed by Huw Stephens & Steve Lamacq. Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age was quoted through an email calling them a ‘wicked’ band listening to them from his kitchen. They have headlined the Worcester Music Festival, played the mainstage at Lakefest opening for The Darkness, were shortlisted for Austin Texas South By South West and The Great Escape by their BBC Introducing host Andrew Marston, and came runner up in the national Firestone Battle of the Bands hosted by BBC Presenter Abbie Mccarthy, who said they put on‘ a brilliant performance‘.

‘They set the main stage of Lakefest on fire’

The band originated in Worcestershire with Troy Tittley and Arran Davies making music together for fun, when songs they posted to Reddit went semi-viral, resulting in Nuns of the Tundra maintaining the top spot on the guitar subreddit for days, and gathering an international following. Because of this reaction, they bunkered down and enlisted other members to craft an EP, and Nuns of the Tundra was born. Taking the improved recordings back to Reddit, the same effect took place, and blogging influencers also took notice. Jamie Coughlan of top 10 rock blog ‘Overblown‘ said after hearing their single Mind’s EyeWe think Nuns of the Tundra are the saviours of Mainstream Rock‘.

Fast forward to 2021, thanks to opportunities presented by BBC Introducing LiveNuns of the Tundra were chosen to record at renowned London based Kore Studios, which has seen artists such as Amy Winehouse, Manic Street Preachers and Stereophonics pass through over the years. At the last BBC Introducing Live event in London, Nuns of the Tundra were selected ‘out of 100s of bands that applied’ to create a bespoke ep at Kore.

‘After two weeks of intensive listening to the hundreds of entrants received, we have finally settled on a winner…Massive congratulations to Nuns of the Tundra, who impressed all our panel with their stoner rock sound.’
George Apsion – Owner of Kore Studios & Producer/Engineer (Plan B, The Enemy, Matt Cardle)

‘C’est La Vie’ is the first single from the upcoming EP ‘The World’s Gone Crazy and So Have I’. This leap to recording at a high end studio with experienced industry veterans has made for the rawest and most passionate version of our sound to date. We feel immensely lucky to have been given this opportunity, and we put our heart and soul into making the record as good as it can possibly be. C’est La Vie was written with first impressions in mind; it’s quick and to the point, it’s unexpected, it’s got a poppy chorus, and has lyrics that are passionate and relatable. We want this to be people’s first taste of Nuns, and we really hope you enjoy what we came up with.
